Enjoy the sunset…

“If the boy and girl walk off into the sunset hand-in-hand in the last scene, it adds 10 million to the box office.”
~George Lucas

Here’s to starring in your very own blockbuster this weekend!

Flowers for you

Hope these beauties brighten your day!

A very beautiful woman…

“A very beautiful woman hardly ever leaves a clear-cut impression of features and shape in the memory. Usually there remains only an aura of living color.”
~William Bolitho

Kauai

Ah Kauia…Is there anywhere on earth more lush, exotic or gorgeous? I might have to argue, no. We were lucky enough to be asked to photograph a wedding there recently and as is usually the case, we couldn’t resist lingering for a few days on our own.

The wedding was a lot of fun to shoot but after three days of hoisting our cameras around for all of the various bridally events, the last thing I wanted to do was carry one on our adventures. Larry, bless him, was willing to have a Canon body and lens at the ready but it was just so easy to pull the iPhone out of my pocket that I chose that as my main camera for our hikes.

It’s a good thing I had my trusty iPhone because it is virtually impossible to not find a photo op around every corner in Kauai. As my friend Scott would say, there were “instant wall hangers” all over the place. The center of the island is basically uninhabitable so all of the towns and resorts are snuggled up against its beautiful coast line.

Larry and I took our time circumnavigating the island and stopped at some pretty amazing places. One of my favorites was The Queen’s Bath. It’s a large pool carved by nature into a lava shell. When the tide is low, it’s a wonderful place to swim and snorkel. That’s Larry in the green bathing suit swimming happily. We also made a trek to the Secret Waterfall. It took a kayak trip and a long slog through some very muddy woods not to mention 3 river crossing to get to it, but man, was it worth it. Even with what seemed like a busload of fellow tourists around, this place was utterly magical and serene.

We are so pleased that Style Me Pretty is showcasing Becky and Shane’s sumptuous, yet charming rustic wedding. The gorgeous couple was wed at one of our favorite venues, The Ojai Valley Inn. Everything about this place whispers, elegance. Becky and Shane exchanged vows under a massive oak tree and then danced the night away in a big red barn. Guests were treated to a good old fashioned BBQ dinner under a canopy of bright stars.

Amy Marella and Trisha Haner of The Hidden Garden, as is usually the case, created stellar floral arrangements. Honestly, their work always leaves me a little breathless. Julie Pryor of Pryor Events brought her usual style and panache to the event and made sure every lovely detail was just perfect.
