Larry and I have traveled to the Channel Islands many times. We hiked through Anacapa Island on one of our first dates. It’s a pretty desolate place – hospitable to seabirds but not much else. This is just the kind of place we like to get away to with our cameras and a picnic. It’s the perfect place to reflect on life and all of its blessings.
“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
The line between work and play gets blurred a lot around here. For instance, our latest “assignment” was to travel to one of our favorite destinations: Palm Springs, photograph lots of delicious eye candy at the gorgeous Korakia Pensione and collaborate with a team of individuals who are not only supremely creative but also lots of fun to be around.
The details and lots of images from this shoot will be featured on upcoming posts but in the meantime, I couldn’t resist sharing one of my favorite images of the day.
“The entire sum of existence is the magic of being needed by just one person.”
~ Vi Putnam
We stumbled upon this incredible grove of agave while driving through back roads in Mexico. What struck me as being so beautiful about this plant, was that even though it is covered with spikes and thorns, it throws its “arms” up to the sky like the most delicate ballerina.
It’s so lovely to go out to the garden in the morning with shears in hand and collect sprigs of fragrant herbs to bring inside. By placing them in a vase with water on my kitchen counter, they are not only readily available to toss into the dinner pot but also perfume the room with a delicate spicy scent.
