It’s the first day of summer. Stop whatever you’re doing. Throw on a swimsuit and enjoy!
First day of summer…
Bella
Larry and I photographed our very first portrait session in our new studio last weekend and we could not have had a more adorable subject!
Bella’s Mom is in fashion so it was no surprise that her little girl had bespoke dresses for the session.
Of course, the perfect accessory to haute couture is a great smile!
Bella is such a natural in front of the camera…
My hand to God, she came up with this pose all on her own!
She worked every angle – right down to her sweet pudgy little toes.
A Father’s Day tribute
I spend so much time photographing and writing about other families on this blog. With today being Father’s Day, I thought it only right to put the spotlight on my own Dad.
Even though he is well into his 80s, he is still the most vibrant, curious person I know. He is quick to laugh and always has a kind word to say about everyone.
Growing up, he filled our household with music. He was and is a wonderful musician, and composer.
He instilled in me a love of travel and the natural world. He taught me to see beauty in the every-day; an attribute that has not only enhanced my professional life but enriched my personal one as well.
His energy is boundless. He’s always ready to help anyone in need and is up for any adventure. In this photo, we had been up since dawn photographing in Yellowstone. As usual, he attacked our little photo expedition with tremendous gusto and verve.
Dad, if you’re reading this today, I’m sorry I can’t celebrate Father’s Day with you in person. But please know that you are in my heart on this and everyday.
Perfect centerpiece for Father’s Day…
If you’re having your Dad over for lunch or dinner tomorrow, try this centerpiece idea. Instead of setting the table with a feminine floral arrangement, gather several small plantings of your father’s favorite herbs and vegetables in a wicker tray like I did here or run them down the center of the table.
I bought bio-degradble pots at the hardware store and filled them with inexpensive young plants. This entire centerpiece cost less than something I could have purchased at the local florist and the best part is that at the end of the evening, your Dad can pop these little cuties, pot and all into his own garden.
Maggie’s portrait at Buried Bone Photo
Meet Maggie. This incredibly sweet girl is a Slovakian Hound. She’s also the latest client of Buried Bone Photo, our pet division. Yes, that’s right, when we’re not busy photographing weddings and family portraits, we get to hang out with and make images of gorgeous dogs like this one.
